The National Association
of State Treasurers Legislative Conference is one of the most
important policy meetings of the year. This conference provides
a forum for state treasurers and NAST members to meet with
administration, congressional, and regulatory officials to
discuss the issues that significantly affect the states’ fiscal
conditions. Conference participants will also get an insider’s
view of the key federal issues to be debated in 2008.
The 2008 NAST Legislative
Conference will focus on the major federal issues affecting
state treasuries. Discussions will cover broad economic policy
issues, including the federal response to recent credit market
disruptions, proposed changes to the regulatory regime governing
the municipal and corporate marketplace, tax policies that
encourage Americans to save for college, and opportunities for
the states and the federal government to work in partnership,
whether to return unclaimed property to its rightful owner or to
improve Americans’ financial literacy.
The conference is open to
all government members of NAST and affiliate organizations, as
well as the NAST Corporate Affiliate members in good standing.
Join NAST in the nation’s capital as state and federal officials
engage in open discussions about the fiscal policy issues that
will influence the financial well-being of our country’s
citizens.
